Helping Hands

‘Helping Hands’ are short-term voluntary programs, offering participants a unique, hands-on intercultural experience. With its multi-ethnic and multi-religious community consisting of Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims and Christians, Nawalapitiya is an ideal setting for the Helping Hands programs.

The Helping Hands teams assist in enhancing the mission of Cherith International to serve those in need.

In July 2007, a Helping Hands team built a beautiful playground with a colorful play tower for the ‘House of Hope’ children’s home. The team consisted of participants from the USA, Netherlands, Trinidad and Sri Lanka. They also conducted the first-ever basket training camp for kids in Nawalapitiya at Cherith’s sports ground.
