New Opportunities

A better future for disadvantaged kids
Being able to speak and write proper English is a necessity for better educational opportunities and job prospects in Sri Lanka. Unfortunately, many parents arenŐt able to send their children for English classes due to poverty. There are also numerous illiterate people, young and old, in the remote central mountains of Sri Lanka where we work.

To serve these disadvantaged people, Cherith International is planning to establish an Educational Center where free English and literacy classes are being offered. The Center will also be used for Mother & Child clinics, Family Health Care programs, free Medical and Eye clinics, and other community services.

The Educational Center will be designed with respect to local architecture and include a large, half-open meeting hall, office space, storage and sanitary facility.

An international Helping Hands team will assist us in building the Educational Center from October 16 - 28, 2008.

The building cost is estimated at $22,000 and the funding requirement is currently $3,159, as Cherith International has received donations totaling $18,841.

Join us by providing a better future for disadvantaged kids. Please mention ‘Educational Center’ in the memo of your check.
